Former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Monday Igbuya has returned to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, four years after he dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress, APC, NewsNet Nigeria has learnt.
Recall that Igbuya was impeached by 22 out of the 29-member assembly on Thursday, May 11, 2017.
Consequently, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, who represents Okpe constituency was elected as his successor.
The Sapele born politician later joined the APC to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Sapele/Okpe/Uvwie Federal Constituency in the 2019 general elections.
A dependable source told NewsNet Nigeria that Igbuya will in the next two weeks officially return to the PDP alongside a former member of the House of Representatives for Ethiope Federal Constituency, Hon Solomon Edoja, Pastor Godwin Akpovie of Oghareki in Ethiope West Local Government Area and other staunch members of the party in the state who defected to the APC.
According to the source, they will be officially received back to the PDP at a rally of the Delta Central PDP being planned for Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the Sapele Township stadium.
Igbuya was a two-time chairman of Sapele Local Government before moving on to represent Sapele constituency in the State House of Assembly.
He had since after losing to the incumbent member representing Sapele/Okpe/Uvwie Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Efe Afe in the 2019 polls maintained a low political profile.
