Former Delta State House of Representatives aspirant for Ethiope Federal Constituency, Hon Godfrey Ishegbe has tendered his resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ishegbe, who hails from Okurekpo community under Okpara Federal ward 4 in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State ran for the House of Representatives seat in the 2019 general elections but was unsuccessful in the PDP primary conducted in December 2018.
In his resignation letter, addressed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa dated February 27, 2023, and titled: “ALL THAT HAS A BEGINNING MUST HAVE AN END: MY RESIGNATION” also resigned his appointment as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Political to the Delta Governor.
He hinged his resignation on the call by his supporters to quit PDP saying “I have listened to their cries and hereby tender my resignation as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Political and Member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
Ishegbe, who copied the PDP State Chairman, PDP Local Govt Chairman and Ward Chairman said, “Looking back at how much I have given to the party in terms of personal resources, time and commitment, I’ve had a deep retrospect and concluded that the purpose of my joining the party which is for the total upliftment of our youths into digitalized system of government has not been met. Instead, every smart, skilled and vibrant
young persons like myself have been relegated to the background.
“Your Excellency, despite you knowing about my qualifications from Ivy schools, you chose to ignore the numerous benefits I will bring into the system and all attempts to replicate what I have done both within and outside the country in my home State were blatantly ignored. I have endured this long in the party because of my
supporters who pleaded we stay and I listened to them.
“These same supporters who have always delivered the votes have given me the go ahead to leave the party. As a man of the people, I have listened to their cries and hereby tender my resignation as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Political and Member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
