The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Emevor Ward 7, in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Wednesday, passed a vote of confidence on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in appreciation of the infrastructural development across the state, particularly the Emevor-Orogun road in the community.
The vote of confidence was moved during a meeting of the PDP Emevor Leaders, Elders and Stakeholders held at the country home of the Chairman Delta State Hospitals Management Board, HMB, Dr Paul Oweh.
The motion was moved by former Councillor in the Ward, Mr Sylvester Ifode and seconded by Secretary General of the Emevor Progress Union, EPU, Deacon Festus Okah.
At the meeting which was held to discuss the way forward for the party and Emevor kingdom, they commended Governor Oborevwori for his impactful leadership, infrastructural development across the state, particularly as it concerns the construction of Phase 1 of the Emevor-Orogun Road in the community and the Ughelli-Asaba Road dualisation project.
The party expressed delight at the prospects of inaugurating the road during the first anniversary of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.
They appealed to the Governor to consider awarding the second phase of the project which will take the road construction to the five villages in the Kingdom and Orogun Town in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
Also, at the meeting, four aspirants from the community indicated interest in contesting for the Chairmanship position in Isoko North Local Government Council.
They are two Senior Special Assistants to the Governor on Media, Comrade Nelson Egware and Comrade Palmer Ogheneyole Nathaniel, others are former Secretary to the Local Government and erstwhile Treasurer of the party in the Local Government, Chief Godwin Akamakusi and Lagos-based businessman, Mr Kennedy Obodo.
Leader of the party in the Ward, Dr Paul Oweh encouraged the aspirants to go about their campaigns with love and urged them to avoid maligning one another as brothers from the same community.
He congratulated Governor Oborevwori for his success at the polls and the tribunals and for appointing illustrious sons and daughters of the community into relevant political positions to help him drive the MORE Agenda of his administration.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, Chairman of the Ward Caretaker Committee, Mr Samson Okuke thanked members of the party for their support in the last general elections.
Those who attended the meeting include Executive Assistant to the Governor on Beautification, Chief Emmanuel Erezi, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr Nelson Egware, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Palmer Ogheneyole Nathaniel, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, Joseph Ekowhiro, and Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Development, Pastor Mrs Edirin Ifode.
Others were former Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Anthony Odhe, Chief Peter Ibiri, Hon. Sylvester Ifode, Professor Sunny Ekakitie, Mr Wilson Khama, Mr Otobo Ugbome, Surv Samuel Irori, Mr Austin Umale, Elder Peter Otuata, Chief Engr Samuel Otomo, Chief Godwin Orogun, President Isoko National Youth Assembly, INYA, Comrade Eniwake Orogun, Emevor Youth Chairman, Hon Patrick Edhede, former women leaders Mrs Victoria Osiobe and Mrs Vivian Oseha among others.
