Delta North Stakeholders on Thursday, March 7, 2024, passed a vote of confidence on the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori at a meeting held in Asaba.

The Stakeholders also passed a vote of confidence on the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, and on the immediate past Governor, Senator, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

Dame Nkem Okwuofu, a member of the State Advisory Council, who moved the vote of confidence motion on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, and immediate past Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, noted that Governor Oborevwori has displayed impressive commitment in the delivery of his MORE Agenda across the three Senatorial districts for the benefit of Deltans and residents.

She averred that the Delta State Governor has impacted positively on all sectors in the State ensuring that worker’s salaries are paid promptly and regularly, health and educational institutions are working properly, contracts have been awarded for roads infrastructure across the three Senatorial zones and the State is enjoying sustainable peace amongst other accomplishments, even as he has exhibited exemplary doggedness in fulfilling the philosophy of continuity by overseeing the completion of outstanding projects inherited from the previous administration.

Dame Okwuofu further declared that the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme is one of their own from Delta North and equally lauded immediate past Governor  Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for his warmth, accommodation, and admirable willingness to always be available to lend his wisdom and experience to the present administration when necessary, describing them as true and undisputed ambassadors of Delta North.

The motion for the vote of confidence on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Sir Monday Onyeme, and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for their good works was seconded by Hon. Charles Emetulu, representing Ndokwa West Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly.

The question was then put to the stakeholders by the Delta North Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Elder Moses Iduh, to vote on the motion and the Ayes were overwhelming in their unanimous endorsement and affirmation of the vote of confidence on the Governor and his Deputy and on Dr. Okowa. There was no single nay to challenge the vote of confidence.

The leaders and stakeholders at the well-attended meeting, also called on the PDP Delta North family to love one another, eschew politics of bitterness and acrimony, encourage each and everyone to imbibe the virtue of forgiveness and reconciliation, and always embrace peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence across the Senatorial District

Speaking, Dr. Okowa appealed to all those that he may have hurt in the course of performing his duty as Governor to forgive him, even as he affirmed that he has since forgiven those who had wronged him as well.

Present at the meeting were the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme and the former Deputy Governor, Chief Benjamin Elue. The leader of the caucus in the House of Representatives, Hon. Victor Nwokolo, his counterpart in the Green Chamber, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, and the immediate past Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, were also in attendance.

Emeka Nwaobi, all Commissioners from Delta North Senatorial District, all Local Government Council Chairmen, and all PDP Local Government Chairmen in Delta North, amongst other leaders across the nine Local Government Areas in the District.
