Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has reacted to the recent shift in the political landscape in Delta State.

The Speaker stated that there was no cause for worry as the decision for a mass defection from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressives Party, APC in the state, is driven by efficient commitment to Delta State’s progress.

Rt Hon Guwor spoke while addressing constituents at an enlarged gathering of political leaders in Warri South West at Ogbe-Ijoh, headquarters of the local government council.

He said every stakeholder in PDP saw the need for the movement, saying that the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, who was the leader of the party in the state consulted widely before the defection to APC.

The Speaker disclosed that all the twenty two PDP members of the State Legislature have joined the Governor in defecting from PDP to APC as governance in Delta state has always been conducted in the spirit of one big family.

Citing leadership crisis in the party at the federal level as a major concern before the mass migration, Guwor said the need for better alignment with the federal government was also a motivating factor.

A statement made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Nkem Nwaeke, quoted the Speaker as saying that following the development, there would be policy alignment between the federal and the Delta State government.

Rt Hon Guwor expressed optimism that the state will leverage APC’s national presence and resources for Delta State’s growth.

He said “Besides the irreconcilable
disagreements in PDP’s leadership at the federal level, there has been this desire for increased federal funding and support that would engender opportunities for infrastructure development”.

The Speaker emphasized that supporting policies that benefit the state and its people would foster greater partnerships that drive development and prosperity.

He assured that the Delta State House of Assembly would remain dedicated to serving the state and working tirelessly for its advancement.
