Former Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Otunba Nick Ovuakporie, who is now a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has stated that the emergence of Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori as Delta State Governor-elect is an act of God.
Ovuakporie made this remark on Saturday in his congratulatory message to Oborevwori on his yet another victory at the Court of Appeal on a suit brought against him over his qualification to contest the 2023 governorship election.

An Appeal Court sitting at Abuja yesterday Friday dismissed a pre-election appeal filed by Chief Ikie Aghwarianovwe, seeking the disqualification of Delta State Governor-elect.
Chief Ikie had filed a suit sometime in October 2022, alleging that Rt. Hon. Oborevwori submitted false documents to INEC to aid his qualification for the 2019 House of Assembly election in Delta State.
Ovuakporie hailed the justices of the Court of Appeal for upholding the judgement of the Federal High Court, Asaba, which held that Chief Ikie failed woefully to substantiate the allegations of certificate forgery against Oborevwori.
While describing as needless the court cases so far brought against Oborevwori, Ovuakporie opined that the 2023 governorship election in Delta State was squarely won by the PDP and no amount of scheming would snatch the mandate given to Oborevwori by Deltans.
“One thing that is very clear is that the victory of Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori as Delta State Governor-elect is an act of God. That is why despite all plots to truncate his destiny to become governor of Delta State have met with brick walls.
“One begins to wonder if it has not yet dawned on the opposition parties in the state that no man can cut short the destiny of Oborevwori to succeed Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to sustain the development tempo of Delta State.
“Once again, I want to urge the opposition parties to accept defeat, queue behind the Governor-elect to deliver on his More Agenda blueprint,” Ovuakporie appealed.
