Former Governor of Kano State, Senator Kabiru Gaya says the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been narrowed to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Voting at the APC special national convention currently taking place at the Eagle Square, Abuja is expected to begin at 6pm.

Senator Gaya, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) disclosed this on Tuesday while speaking with a crew of Channels TV at the venue.

He restated that majority of stakeholders in the APC are unanimous that power should shift to the South in 2023.

Gaya explained that by doing so the party would have been able to send a strong signal that the APC is not a sectional party but a party for all Nigerians.

He noted with President Muhammadu Buhari leaving power in 2023 it is only fair for the APC to shift power to the Southern part of the country.

Earlier Tuesday, the number of presidential aspirants was reportedly pruned to five.

Those proposed were Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Rotimi Amaechi; Governor Kayode Fayemi and Governor Dave Umahi.
