2023 Polls: APC will suffer heavy defeat in Udu, says Odibo-led PDP campaign committee

The campaign committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State has said that the All Progressives Congress, APC, will suffer its worst defeat in the 2023 general elections in the area.

The Chief Moses Odibo-led PDP campaign committee in Udu said this on Monday during a press conference which was held at the premises of the ongoing Udu Harbour Market project.

Odibo who is the coordinator of the campaign in the area disclosed that the main backers of the Delta APC governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege are now in the fold of the Udu PDP family.

Besides the recent defection of the backbones of the APC in the area to the PDP, Odibo who read the position paper of the party on the forthcoming general elections said the unprecedented ‘harvest’ of development projects in Udu Council Area under the Governor Ifeanyi-led administration has greatly endeared the people to the PDP.

He said, “Let me announce to you from the onset that the Peoples Democratic Party has recovered from the setback of 2015 and is poised to reposition the country from the sorry state the APC-led government has plunged her with heart-rending consequences and pains inflicted on the people. There is no gainsaying the fact that APC has failed on all fronts. From ‘top to bottom’, Nigerians have seen the difference and it is only a heartless, mindless and most wicked soul that would cast his vote for the APC in the coming elections.

“We, therefore, wish to use this medium to clearly state our performance records as a party over the years and the justification for our call to return PDP to power at the National level and also the party in Delta State beyond 2023. We cannot afford to reinforce failure by voting for the APC for any reason. PDP, over the years, has performed creditably well in the area of infrastructure, management of the nation’s economy, security of lives and property, the health sector and human capital development through various programmes designed by the government in the interest of the people, and in fact all sectors of the polity.”

In justifying the massive following of the PDP in Udu, Chief Odibo said under the PDP-led administrations “390 persons from the area have benefited from the State Government’s entrepreneurship and empowerment programmes through STEP, YAGEV and other programmes designed to engage our youths to be self-employed and be productive members of the society. Many of the beneficiaries have established businesses of their own and are now employers of labour.

“27.41 kilometres of roads have been completed or are ongoing in Udu LGA including the reconstruction of Ovwian main road with drainages and Ekete Main road; Construction of the 9.7 kilometres Aladja-Isaba road; rehabilitation of failed portions of Udu roads from the Udu Bridge to the railway track at Ujevwu; Maintenance of Joseph Atori street with a spur to Oyiboraye Close and Edafiogho Drive; Rehabilitation of Orhuwhorun main road and Ekrovie main road as well as Renovation of Ovwian-NBTC road.”

In the education sector, the Udu PDP campaign coordinator said, “The PDP-led Delta State and Udu local governments have facilitated the construction or rehabilitation of several critical infrastructures for the educational wellbeing of the people. Some of the areas include the Construction of 81 classrooms for schools in Udu alone; renovation of 140 classrooms across Udu; Provision of 1,856 students’ furniture dully supplied to schools across Udu and 363 teachers’ furniture has been supplied by the PDP-led state and local governments over the years.

“In the area of healthcare, the PDP has provided 15 healthcare centres across Udu LGA including Aladja Primary Health care Centre well fenced and stocked with healthcare equipment worth N20m recently by the Udu Local Government Council; Egini Primary Health care Centre dully fenced and with staff quarters; Ogbe-Udu Primary Health care Centre; Emadadja Primary Health care Centre and Opete Primary Health care Centre.”

“The Udu Harbour Market conceived by the PDP-led administration and being under massive construction presently is a milestone project in Udu. The foundation was laid in 2004 by the Ibori administration and though it suffered some years of neglect, is poised to be the best market in Delta State.

“The speed at which the contractors are working today clearly indicates that Okowa is determined to deliver this project in record time to stimulate accelerated economic activities in Udu. The people will surely reap massive benefits from this project when completed and Udu must encourage the PDP with their votes to get things done for them.

“Today, as we flag-off the PDP community-to-community campaign activity with a visit to the Monarch and the leadership of the Union of Udu Communities, we appeal to all eligible voters in Udu to support the PDP for MORE benefits to the people. With Atiku Abubakar as President and our own Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa as Vice President, Udu will benefit massively from the coming administrations. We therefore encourage Udu to vote for Atiku for President, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori/Monday Onyeme for Governor and Deputy Governor, Chief Ighoyota Amori for Senate, Chief Solomon Awhinawhin for House of Representatives and our own Chief Jite Brown for House of Assembly. That is a sure ticket for accelerated democratic dividends for Udu people.

“Nigerians have seen the difference between the PDP and the APC in terms of management of the nation’s economy.

“Nigerians are suffering. We have learnt our lessons the hard way and God will not forgive us if we fail to take advantage of this opportunity to rescue Nigeria from the army of occupation now sitting heartlessly on our commonwealth.

“By May 29, 2023, the ‘Egyptians we see today, we shall see no more’. And that can only be achieved if we vote all PDP candidates and chase out the APC at all levels. APC has no solution to our myriad of problems. Only the PDP can fix and reset Nigeria, put it on the path of economic recovery and save her from the avoidable misfortune that has visited the people since APC took over Aso Rock. The time to end our misery is now. Your vote is your power to reset Nigeria and bring back PDP for a new and better Nigeria.”
