The International Human Human Rights Commission (IHRC) has congratulated the incumbent Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly and Governor-Elect, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru on his victory in the just concluded Governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state.
A congratulatory message by the Commission’s Ambassador at Large and Head of Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria, H.E. Ambassador (Dr.) Duru Hezekiah described the victory of Nwifuru as a reflection of the people’s will for good governance.
Hezekiah noted that the Governor-Elect had proved his worth and will capitalise on such for quality leadership for the state.
He said, “On the occasion of your brilliant election to Ebonyi State’s highest office, the International Human Rights Commission is pleased to extend our warm and heartfelt congratulations to you, as well as our good wishes for success in the discharge of your duties.
“With your Manifesto on The People’s Charter of Needs, you may rest assured of our Organization’s constant readiness to work with you towards maintaining and consolidating intergovernmental partnerships and responsiveness (to the needs of the people).”
“I urge you to strengthen the civic alliance between the government and the people of Ebonyi State alongside your political opponents in maintaining national solidarity, cooperation, development, and promotion of peace, security, and stability; contributing to harmonization and inclusive government,” he maintained.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Rt. (Hon.) Francis Nwifuru winner of the March 18 governorship election in Ebonyi State. Declaring the result at the Independent National Electoral Commission State Headquarters in Abakaliki, the State Returning Officer, Mr Charles Igwe, said Hon. Nwifuru garnered 199,131 votes cast across the 13 local governments in the state.
