A frontline Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Delta State guber aspirant in 2023, Olorogun Kenneth Okpara has vowed that he will make Delta investment hub in the Niger Delta region when elected as governor of the state.
Okpara made this assertion while fielding questions from newsmen after he met with the screening committee of DC 23, an Urhobo lobby group at the Atlantic Club in Sapele.
According to him: “I am going to partner with foreign investors that I am connected to presently as a result of my working experience in the World Bank so as to industrialize the state.
“I will provide jobs for the youths in the state by establishing ten thousand acres of farmland in each of the 25 Local Government Councils in collaboration with foreign partners to provide the necessary equipment for the programme in order to stem the tide of youth restiveness.”
He added: “I am one of the best in the race but I am not desperate for power. It will be too premature to make my programmes public. I have all it takes to take Delta State to the next level. I commend the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa over his efforts to develop the state.”
Okpara lauded the Urhobo leaders in DC 23 for coming up with the idea of the screening committee to enable Urhobo to speak with one voice ahead of the 2023 Delta guber poll, adding that: ” The chairman of the screening committee, Prof.Nyerhowho Tonukari and his members are men of integrity and Urhobo patriots who want the best for their people at this critical time”.
He prayed to God to give the Urhobo people and Deltans the best candidate to govern the state in 2023, saying that: “I am prepared to work genuinely with whoever is eventually chosen by the screening committee for the interest and unity of the Urhobo nation”.
