A full-scale investigation has been ordered into a viral video alleging unprofessional conduct by a team of policemen attached to the Ebrumede Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Delta State.

In the video, a young man who identified himself as “DJ Young,” accused the team of policemen of abuse and misconduct when they raided an ongoing birthday party where he was performing.

The DJ alleged that while he was performing the policemen stormed the venue at a hotel on Uti Road by a gas plant in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.

According to him, while his ‘woman’ who was at the event scampered for safety for fear of being arrested, the sum of Two Hundred Thousand naira (₦200,000.00) in her possession for POS business fell down.

He disclosed that one of the policemen picked up the money, and when he approached them to retrieve it, they descended on him and brutalised him.

DJ Young added that he was thereafter arrested and detained, and when he was released following the intervention of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), the ₦200,000.00 was not returned to him.

Following the viral video of DJ Young in which he lamented the ugly incident, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, apart from condemning the alleged act, ordered an investigation into the matter.

The CP stressed that the Command under his watch would not condone any form of incivility or abuse of power by its operatives emphasising that the allegations are being treated with the utmost seriousness.

In a statement by SP Bright Edge, the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, CP Abaniwonda said, “We do not and will not tolerate unprofessional conduct in any form.

“The Command is committed to transparency and accountability, and I have directed an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident.

“We urge the victim or any other person with useful information to reach out through our Complaint Response Unit lines.”

The Commissioner also reiterated that the integrity of the Delta State Police Command remains a top priority, and charged officers and men of the force to maintain professionalism and operate strictly within the rule of law and the ethics of modern policing.

“This Command stands firmly for justice, and we shall not shield any officer found wanting,” he assured.
