Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have dismantled a notorious kidnap syndicate operating across Delta North, recovering a ₦5 million ransom in the process.

The breakthrough was achieved by the Command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad, led by CSP Godwin Osadolor, in the early hours of Saturday, July 12, 2025.

Acting on intelligence, the operatives tracked the suspects to their hideout in Ogwashi-Ukwu, Oshimili North Local Government Area, where a key suspect, identified as Sanusi Abdulahi, was arrested.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the suspect was found in possession of ₦5 million, believed to be part of a ransom collected from a recent victim.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that the syndicate is responsible for a string of kidnappings in Ibusa, Ogwashi-Ukwu, Obulu-Okiti, Issele-Uku, and Issele-Asagba, including the recent abduction of a young woman in Ogwashi-Ukwu on July 9, 2025,” SP Edafe stated.

Following Abdulahi’s arrest, he led police operatives to additional hideouts at Second Deputy and Oko areas in Asaba, where four more members of the gang were apprehended.

SP Edafe confirmed that investigations are ongoing, reassuring residents of the Command’s commitment to flushing out criminal elements from the state.
