The Delta State Police Command says two persons died in the tanker explosion that occurred on Sunday afternoon at Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area of the state.

NewsNet Nigeria had earlier reported that several houses, cars and other property were consumed when the tanker fell and exploded while the driver was attempting to make a turn on the Old Lagos/Asaba Road, Agbor.

In a terse message to this medium, the spokesperson for the command, SP Bright Edafe, said the explosion claimed the lives of two persons.

He went further to confirm that the tanker was laden with diesel and not petrol.

A dependable source also disclosed to NewsNet Nigeria that a man and woman lost their lives in the incident adding that the tanker fell while the driver was trying to avoid hitting a vehicle.

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Delta State is yet to comment or issue a statement on the development.
