President of the board of the Sally Young Initiative, Chief (Mrs) Claudia Owumi has finalised plans to rebuild the house of the iconic Urhobo highlife musician.
Chief Owumi in a statement disclosed that contractors are being hired to demolish the previous house of Chief Sally Young, who through his songs has greatly promoted Urhobo culture.
According to the statement, Owumi has paid for the second year of Sally Young’s accommodation at the cost of 240,000 Naira and continued to supply food to Sally Young and his caretaker at the cost of 100,000 Naira.
“My able committee has given Sally Young the sum of 10,000 Naira for his pocket money during a courtesy call to him recently. We must come together at this point to finish the construction of the house project.
“The goal of the initiative is to raise the sum of 5 million Naira towards the construction of the house of Sally Young.”
