Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Delta State Police Command, have arrested a 24-year-old man after a locally fabricated Beretta pistol was found hidden inside a loaf of bread.
The arrest was made on November 6, 2025, during a routine stop-and-search operation at the Koka Roundabout in Asaba.
The suspect, identified as Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike of Ogbeowele Quarters, Asaba, was said to have displayed suspicious behaviour, prompting officers to conduct a thorough search.
The weapon was recovered and secured as an exhibit, while the suspect was taken into custody.
According to the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, investigations are ongoing to determine the suspect’s possible involvement in recent cases of armed robbery and kidnapping within Asaba and surrounding communities.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the RRS operatives for their alertness and professionalism, describing the interception as further proof of the Command’s sustained intelligence-led security operations.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to apprehending criminal elements, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information to the Police.
The CP assured residents that all information will be treated with utmost confidentiality, while promising continued efforts to keep Delta State safe.
