Project 2020 Task Force, an off-shoot of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) has given the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) a ninety days mandatory notice to amend the current Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) statutes 2010.

The spokesperson and former second Vice President of the NFF, Chief Victor Baribote, who made this known while addressing newsmen on Saturday in Warri, said they would be forced to seek redress in a court should the NFF fail to amend the statutes 2010 at the elapse of ninety days.

Speaking on behalf of the Project 2020 Task Force, which is an off-shoot of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), the spokesperson and former second Vice President of the NFF, Chief Victor Baribote, said the ninety days Mandatory Notice to the NFF was based on the way and manner football is being run in the country that is killing the sport.

Baribote explained that PFAN, which is a strong member of the NFF body has been watching with dismay for many years how those who do not play the game of football or have any knowledge of the game have been holding top positions and running the system for their selfish benefits.

According to him for over Seventy-Six years now the Professional Footballers have been sidelined from the system, and have decided to fully take the football system in the country.

He added that the 90 days Mandatory Notice is for the NFF to amend the current NFF Statutes 2010 on the Composition of the NFF Congress, Composition of the Executive Committee of the NFF, Voting Pattern, and any other relevant provisions of NFF Statutes 2010 in consonance with FIFA, CAF, NFF, and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

Others who spoke, including the Chairman and Facilitator Project 2020 Task Force, Prince Harrison Jalla, Austin Popo and Dr Felix Owolabi recalled Nigeria Football in the 70s, 80s, and 90s and expressed sadness at the way Nigeria Football, especially the National League no longer attract the interest of Nigerians.

This, they attributed largely to the running of football in the country by those who have no knowledge of football management.

They stressed that PFAN as a member of the NFF body, which has a large number of members that have equally played the game and have good knowledge of the system, has decided to take the bull by the horn, and fully be involved in the running of the football system in the country to take football in the country back to its glory days.

The Project 2020 Task Force, also said that they have the mandate as members of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) to use every legal means in advocacy, statutory rights, moral grounds, and legislation to convince all football stakeholders internal and external on the need for an immediate action plan to right the obtusely flawed structure running for over seven decades.
