The newly crowned 16th Odion Orode of Evwreni Kingdom, Major John Oudley Ovwufeti (Rtd), has been formally presented to the people of Evwreni in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, declaring a renewed push for unity, development, and collective responsibility.
The ceremony, held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the historic Eteogba Ancestral Hall in Okpahwa community, attracted dignitaries, traditional authorities, and representatives of the paramount ruler of Elele Kingdom, reflecting deep ancestral ties and shared cultural heritage.
Addressing the gathering, the Odion Orode, Evwurhu Achichi II, made a strong appeal for unity and active participation in rebuilding the kingdom.
“This throne is not about me; it is a call to serve and to rebuild Evwreni with the strength of our collective will. Our greatest asset is our unity, if we stand together, no vision for Evwreni is beyond reach,” he said.
He urged indigenes at home and in the diaspora to reconnect with their roots and invest in the future of the kingdom.
“I urge every son and daughter of this kingdom to return home, invest home, and believe in home,” he added.
The monarch assured the people of purposeful leadership anchored on discipline and respect for tradition.
“We will pursue development with discipline, transparency, and a deep respect for our heritage. Evwreni must rise again, and that journey begins with shared responsibility,” he declared.
He also used the occasion to appeal to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to prioritize infrastructure in Evwreni, noting that improved amenities would significantly enhance the lives of the people.
