Ovigue Ugbarugba emerges new President-General of Otovwodo community

Mr Ovigue Ugbarugba, an engineer has emerged as the new President-General of Otovwodo community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Ugbarugba-led eight-man executive council was inaugurated on Saturday after a peaceful election at the Otovwodo community town hall by the Unu Ro’vie of the community, Prince Tony Oharisi, with a charge to the executive to work for the common good of the community rather than pursuing their selfish interest.

Friends and well-wishers of the past and present Executive Council of Otovwodo community gathered at the Otovwodo community town hall to celebrate the general annual conference.

Speaking during the inauguration, Prince Tony Oharisi charged the Ugbarugba-led executive council to be selfless in their community service and ensure they put the interest of the community at heart for quality delivery of their social services.

Also speaking, the immediate President-General of Otovwodo community, Comrade Duke Shokare highlighted some of his achievements which include the provision of street lights around Otovwodo community, construction and installation of security burglary proof for the community health centre, provision of solar pans, pipe borne water and extra toilet facilities at the Otovwodo market.

Other successes recorded according to Comrade Duke were his firm stance for some workers of Heritage Energy Operational Services who were relieved of their jobs and ensuring a harmonious relationship with neighbouring communities.

He thanked God for a successful tenure and the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom for being a father throughout his tenure.

For his part, the new President-General of Otovwodo community, Mr Ovigue Ugbarugba thanked the people for finding him worthy to serve promising to deliver on his mandate.

He identified among his top priority areas to include improved security, sanitation and other development initiatives his executive will pursue for the general well-being of the people.

Former Executive Assistant to former Governor of Delta State, Mr Efe Abraham, an engineer, a lecturer with the Delta State University, Dr Newton Asaboro and Madam Florence Ugbarugba urged the new executive to be honest and transparent in managing the affairs of the community.

They called on all sons and daughters of Otovwodo Community to support the new executive in order to sustain the existing peace and development of the community.

The Ovigue Ugbarugba-led eight-man executive of Otovwodo Community has a four-year tenure.
