The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State stands at a critical juncture, torn between its founding ideals and the consequences of unchecked ambition.

Senator Ned Nwoko: A Leader Outside the System

Senator Ned Nwoko has never been a typical politician, nor has he ever been part of the entrenched system of exploitation that has plagued Delta politics. From the onset of his political career, Nwoko charted his course based on a commitment to good governance, accountability, and genuine service to his people.

As a member of the House of Representatives, he distinguished himself with a remarkable legislative track record, passing critical bills and providing unprecedented benevolence to his constituents. His leadership was characterized by direct engagement with the people, offering solutions to their challenges rather than exploiting their vulnerabilities.

However, his return to the Senate was delayed for two decades due to some political resistance. Even in the face of such setbacks, Senator Nwoko remained steadfast, eventually answering the overwhelming call of his people to run again in the last election cycle.

The Call to Duty

It is noteworthy that Senator Nwoko had initially declined to run for the Senate in the 2023 election. However, the party, recognizing his unmatched goodwill and personal profile, heavily relied on him to stabilize its waning influence. His candidacy played a pivotal role in delivering victory for the party, even when Okowa had lost significant ground and credibility.

Despite this, the current administration, under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, is perceived by many as being manipulated by Okowa in a bid to undermine Senator Nwoko and stall developmental projects in Delta North. This strategy, aimed at preventing the Senator from fulfilling his legislative mandate, is a short-sighted and dangerous game that serves neither the Governor nor the people of Delta State.

A Message to Governor Oborevwori

Senator Nwoko harbours no personal animosity toward Governor Oborevwori. His focus remains on delivering meaningful development and progress

Signed:
Hon Gloria Okolugbo Commissioner Delta State Government (2011-2015)
Director Communications
Office of The Senator Representing Delta North
Distinguished Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko
