The Staff of Chimola School whose Bus was hijacked by Gunmen on Thursday morning in Ondo state has been released by her abductors.

It was gathered that the staff who goes by the name Omolayo Ojo, returned to the school premises at around 9am.

The proprietress of the school, Mrs Bolatito Akindemowo (picture above) in an interview with newsmen confirmed that no pupil was abducted during the incident.

Meanwhile, the Ondo State Police Command attributed the incident to purely a case of robbery.

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo state, Bolaji Salami, who confirmed the hijack of the school Bus belonging to a private school in Oba-Ile, Akure North council area of the state, doused the tension that arose when the incident was initially mistaken to be kidnapping.

The CP in an interview with newsmen in Akure on Thursday, said the Police networks within and outside the state have been contacted about the development assuring that the Bus would be retrieved.

“Initially we were thinking that the perpetrators would kidnap the lady but from all indication, they are after the School Bus.

“We are all the trail of the robbers and arrest would be made as soon as possible.

“We have warned our men to be at alert, especially those manning banks across the state.

“I want to assure parents that it is a pure case of robbery. Thank God, the freed lady had told us that they spoke fluent Yoruba to her. Hence, we have nothing to fear. It is not a case of banditry as experienced in some parts of the country,” Salami said.

Gunmen had on Thursday morning hijacked the school bus thereby causing panic in the town which is close to the state capital, Akure.
