Persons involved in extortion of money from people for the installation of electrical transformers that were recently freely distributed across parts of Delta Central Senatorial District of Delta State through the office of the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, have been warned to desist forthwith.

A statement signed by the Head, DSP’s constituency office Comrade Chuks Erhire said that some persons are compelling and tricking constituents across some communities to pay various sums of money and levies for the installation of the electricity transformers.

The statement which described the act as outright fraud and totally unacceptable by the office implored the people not to pay any money whatsoever to anybody in respect of the installation of the transformers.

According to the statement, the Deputy President of the Senate recognises the importance of electricity to peoples’ homes and businesses, hence his continued Interventions which include the installation of the transformers at no cost to the people.

The statement further adds that the office of the Deputy President of The Senate will not sit and watch the people being fleeced of their hard-earned resources warning that measures will be taken under the law to ensure that the people freely enjoy the DSP’S Intervention to light up communities without illegal burdens.
