Olota town joins flooded areas in Delta

More communities in Delta State have been hit by heavy flooding which has continued to wreak havoc in other parts of Nigeria.

So far communities like Okwagbe, Iyede-Ame, Otuoku, Akarai, Agbodobiri, Ammasoma, Oyede, Ikpide-Irri riverine community, Uzere, Ivrogbo-Irri, Araya, Aviara, Emede, Umeh, Irri communities in Ughelli South, Ndokwa-East, Burutu, Isoko North and Isoko South Local Government Areas respectively have been ravaged by the severe flooding with casualties recorded in some parts.

The latest community to experience the wrath of the flood is Olota town in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta state where inhabitants have been displaced and properties worth millions of naira destroyed.

Narrating his ordeal, the leader of Ewu Political Parliament, Olorogun Oviri Uto, said that his country home in Olota has been submerged by the flood with household properties such as mattresses, electronics, furniture and others destroyed.

The astute politician also disclosed that farmlands have been overtaken as many of the affected persons no longer have a source of living.

Meanwhile, Olorogun Uto has appealed to the Delta State Government to come to the aid of the flood victims across Ughelli South Local Government Area as relief materials and accommodation is top on their wishlist.
