President Bola Tinubu has relieved Mele Kyari of his appointment as the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
The board of the highest regulatory body of the Nigerian oil and gas industry, with Pius Akinyelure as chairman, has also been dissolved.
Tinubu’s decision was made known on Wednesday morning by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
“The new 11-man board has Engineer Bashir Bayo Ojulari as the Group CEO and Ahmadu Musa Kida as non-executive chairman,” said Onanuga in the statement.
Kyari, a Nigerian geologist and crude oil marketer, was the GCEO of NNPC Limited from 2019 to 2025.
