Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited HEOSL, operators of OML30 Assets, Delta State, has presented starter packs to 84 indigenes trained in skills acquisition.

The items were presented to the 84 beneficiaries selected from Oleh, Emede and Olomoro communities in Cluster 5, on Tuesday at Olomoro Civic Centre, in Isoko South Local Government Area of the state.

Mr Adesola Adebawo, General Manager, Government, Joint Venture and External Relations, HEOSL, Mr Adesola Adebawo, said the Entrepreneurship programme is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects supported by the company under the Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) initiatives within Cluster 5.

He said, “This training programme benefitted eighty-four (84) youths trained in Fashion Design, Computer Operations (ICT), Hair Dressing, Hair Barbing, and Make-Up Artistry. These persons were selected from host communities of Oleh, Emede and Olomoro communities in Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State. With these new graduands, a total of 532 youths have been trained in various skills in the last four (4) years across OML30.”

The beneficiaries were presented with sets of equipment such as 84 Sumec Fireman Generators, 18 Sewing Machines, 18 Weaving Machines, 18 Pressing Irons, 18 Electric Motors, 60 Hair Clippers, 10 Laptops, amongst others.

Adebawo, who was represented by Mr Sylvester Okoh, Manager, Security and Community Relations, urged the beneficiaries to fully utilize the various skills acquired and starter packs received to add value to their lives and support the development of their communities.

“In addition to this entrepreneurship initiative, we are glad to inform you all that HEOSL (on behalf of the OML 30 JV partners) has provided educational scholarships to over 4,000 secondary school and university students in the OML 30 communities in the last 10 years.

“We have recently commenced a campaign for the award of another 800 scholarships to indigenes of OML 30 for the 2021/2022 academic session. As per Federal Government directives via the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), we have commenced transition to the Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) working with our community stakeholders.”

Adebawo appreciated the senior JV partners NNPC E&P Limited and Shoreline Natural Resources Limited, for their continued support and funding, without which none of these would have been possible.

“We crave the support of all our community stakeholders to continue to create a peaceful enabling operating environment in order to enhance continued benefits for all from the OML 30 asset. With continued support, we can do more.”

Meanwhile, the Odionlogbo of Olomoro Kingdom, HRM Isike Isaiah Edere 1, appreciated HEOSL for the well-thought programme and efforts geared towards empowering and uplifting the indigenes in Olomoro, Oleh and Emede communities.

Also, the Vice Chairman of Cluster Management Committee CMC, Cluster 5, Chief Commander Samuel, congratulated the beneficiaries and appealed to all stakeholders for continued support toward peace and progress in the area.
