The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited has urged Nigerians to desist from panic buying petroleum products.
A statement on Tuesday by its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Garba Deen Muhammad assured the general public of the availability of petroleum products during and after the yuletide.
“The NNPC Ltd hereby urges the general public not to engage in panic buying of petroleum products, as the Company has sufficient stock of the products that will last the festive period and beyond.
“The NNPC is also engaging all stakeholders to ensure smooth supply and distribution of products to every part of the country,” the statement read.
Hoarding petroleum products to create artificial scarcity which leads to a hike in prices of the products has been a reoccurring practice among some petrol station owners especially during the festive period.
