Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended warm felicitations to prominent traditional, academic, media and political figures, underscoring his administration’s emphasis on leadership, service, and societal impact across sectors.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, the Governor congratulated the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, Emmanuel Sideso, Abe I, on the 18th anniversary of his coronation, describing his reign as stabilising, development-driven and transformative.
Governor Oborevwori said that since ascending the throne of his forebears, the monarch has provided inclusive and purposeful leadership that repositioned Uvwie Kingdom from a once-troubled domain into a peaceful and investor-friendly environment.
He noted that through collaboration with the Council of Chiefs and the youth population, the royal father has strengthened communal harmony and laid a solid foundation for economic growth and social stability.
“Uvwie Kingdom has metamorphosed from a once troubled kingdom to a peaceful and investor-friendly domain under the reign of HRM Emmanuel Sideso, Abe I,” the Governor said, expressing confidence that the prevailing peace has strategically positioned Uvwie as a potential commercial nerve centre of Delta State.
The Governor prayed for continued good health, wisdom and strength for the monarch to sustain his invaluable contributions to the traditional institution and the development of the state.
In a related message, Governor Oborevwori congratulated the State Commissioner for Higher Education, Nyerhovwo Tonukari, on his 60th birthday, describing him as a distinguished scholar and dedicated public servant.
He noted that as a Professor of Molecular Biotechnology at Delta State University, Abraka, Prof. Tonukari has built an enviable reputation in research, innovation and mentorship, producing graduates who are contributing meaningfully across the globe.
The Governor commended his strategic role in advancing the administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda in the tertiary education sub-sector, citing improved policy implementation, research-driven development and accreditation efforts.
“Professor Tonukari has consistently demonstrated integrity, intellectual depth and administrative competence,” the Governor stated, while wishing him many more years of impactful service.
Governor Oborevwori also felicitated former Editor of Vanguard Newspapers and Publisher of The NewsGuru, Mideno Bayagbon, as he marked his 65th birthday.
Describing Bayagbon as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished journalists, the Governor said his decades of editorial leadership helped shape public discourse, strengthen democratic values and inspire generations of media practitioners.
He praised the media icon for remaining relevant in the digital era through responsible journalism and balanced reporting, urging younger journalists to emulate his professionalism and ethical standards.
In another felicitation, the Governor congratulated former Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Council, Chief Faith Majemite, on her 59th birthday.
