Oborevwori appoints Osuoza, two others as Commissioners

Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has forwarded to the Delta State House of Assembly the names of three nominees for screening and confirmation of their appointment as Commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.

The letter dated 22nd January 2024, conveying the Governor’s nominees was read by the Speaker of the State Legislature, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, Tuesday’s resumed sitting of the House.

In the letter, Governor Oborevwori said in part, “In order to strengthen our resolve to deliver on the MORE Agenda of my administration, it has become necessary to nominate some persons for appointment into the State Executive Council”.

Those nominated by the Governor for screening and confirmation are Ekemejero Ohwovoriole as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza, Commissioner for Information and Kalanama Penawou, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The Governor noted that it would be appreciated if early action is taken for the screening and confirmation of the nominees, to effect their appointment in line with the Constitution.

Majority Leader of the House, Hon Emeka Nwaobi, thereafter, moved a motion for the screening and confirmation of the nominees and was seconded by the member representing Bomadi Constituency, Honourable Oboro Preyor.

The Speaker asked the nominees to submit thirty-five copies of their curriculum vitae to the Clerk of the House on or before Monday, January 29, 2024, and appear for screening on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.
