Wife of the Delta State Governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, has said that no Delta Child should be left behind in the pursuit of knowledge and excellence.

Deaconess Oborevwori, who stated this during the flag-off of the distribution of instructional materials for public primary schools and junior secondary schools in the state, described education as the cornerstone for development.

The Governor’s wife, while flagging the exercise at the SUBEB headquarters in Asaba, commended the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, for the Instructional Materials to Delta State.

Mrs Oborevwori, represented by the wife of the Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Mrs Ify Akpowowo, restated the commitment of the Delta state government to enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in the state’s public institutions.

Stressing government’s efforts to ensure that every child has access to necessary tools needed to learn, grow and thrive, the wife of the Governor said UBEC’s initiative to procure the instructional materials underscores the importance both federal and Delta State governments attached to the development of the education sector.

She noted that children are gifts to society and that their unique abilities deserve to be nurtured and celebrated, even as she disclosed that her “You Matter Foundation”, is to ensure that pupils and students have access to quality education and other opportunities to realise their full potential

The Governor’s wife encouraged other stakeholders to join hands with SUBEB to build a brighter future for every child in the state while appealing for the limitation of barriers to education and to help foster an inclusive, compassionate and progressive society.

Executive Chairman of Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Hon Samuel Mariere, said the instructional materials are in Agriculture and Sports, as well as the procurement of three minibuses for monitoring and supervision.

Hon Mariere stated that the gesture was part of the UBEC-SUBEB intervention programme for quality assurance in public schools, aimed at promoting quality and effective teaching and learning in the state.
