The Burial Media and Publicity Committee of the late Distinguished Senator and legal luminary, Senator Barrister Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, has officially announced the programme of events for his final burial rites.
The announcement was jointly issued by the Chairman of the Committee, Patrick Ukah, and the Secretary, Kweike Phil Eleume, following a meeting held on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) Conference Room, Asaba.
According to the released schedule, burial activities will span over two weeks, beginning on Thursday, February 12, 2026, with a Valedictory Session at the Senate Red Chambers of the National Assembly, Abuja, where serving and former lawmakers are expected to pay tributes to the late senator.
A Virgin Mass will also be held the same day at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja.
A Night of Tribute has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the Dome Event Centre, GRA, Asaba, bringing together political leaders, associates, family members, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate the life and legacy of the former federal lawmaker.
On Thursday, February 26, 2026, a Court Valedictory Session will be held in honour of Senator Nwaoboshi’s outstanding contributions to the legal profession and the judiciary.
Later that evening, a Service of Songs and Vigil Mass will take place at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Ibusa, commencing at 6:00pm.
The Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, February 27, 2026, at 12:00 noon at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Ibusa, followed by interment.
A reception will hold at the Anioboshi Primary School Field, near the Federal Girls’ College, Ibusa, by 2:00pm.
Traditional burial ceremonies, including the Okanga and Ogbu dances, will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, alongside other customary rites at the senator’s Isieke family home in Ibusa, in accordance with community traditions.
The committee has called on political associates, colleagues, friends, and members of the public to take note of the programme and participate in the burial activities to pay their final respects to the departed senator.
The committee also expressed appreciation to individuals and groups who have extended condolences and support to the family, while praying for God’s blessings upon them.
