A seasoned medical practitioner and astute politician, Hon Alphonsus Chukwutem Ojo has called for maximum support of stakeholders for the new administration in Delta State led by Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.
Hon Ojo, a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and former member of the Delta State House of Assembly, expressed optimism that Delta State will witness much stability in governance, saying that the synergy and smooth transition from the immediate past administration to a new administration in the state was very remarkable.
The former lawmaker spoke at the venue of the swearing-in ceremony of Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and Sir Monday Onyeme, as Governor and Deputy Governor of Delta State respectively, in Asaba, the state capital.
Ojo while felicitating with the Oborevwori and Onyeme for the enviable positions they now occupied in Delta State, urged them to build on the legacies of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration and set Delta State on the part of progress.
He prayed God to grant the duo the wherewithal to sustain the tempo of human and infrastructural development in the state, even as he congratulated the PDP for sustaining leadership in Delta State since 1999.
“I want to on behalf of my wife Josephine, family and supporters, congratulate His Excellencies, Rt Hon (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori(JP) FICMC, FNIM, and Sir (Chief) Monday John Onyeme, FCA, on their assumptions of office today 29 May 2023 as Governor and Deputy Governor Delta State.
“It is the Lord’s doing and we are glad in it. We pray that God who knew from the very beginning that this day will come, grant them the needed grace and wisdom to pilot the affairs of Delta State. It is our hope that Delta State will witness unprecedented peace, unity and progress during the Sheriff-Onyeme reign in the state as Governor and Deputy Governor.
“My appeal is for maximum support and cooperation of Deltans and all other critical stakeholders in the politics and governance of Delta State. There should be no form of distractions to enable the new government to focus on good governance,” Ojo stressed.
