President Bola Tinubu on Thursday presented 28 ministerial designates to Senate President, Godswill Akpabio for screening.

The President is expected to fulfil this constitutional obligation 60 days after he was sworn in.

Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila presented the names to Senate President Akpabio on Thursday’s afternoon.

However, like his predecessors, Tinubu failed to append portfolios to the names sent to the Senate.

In the past, social critics and national assembly members have criticized the non-appendage of portfolios to names of ministerial designates, as it doesn’t allow for proper screening.

The critics hinged their argument on the need for the ministerial designates to be given portfolios before screening, in order for the national assembly members, to ask them the appropriate and relevant questions that relate to their ministries during the plenary.

The ministerial designates are former Governors Nyesom Wike, Nasir El-Rufai, Dave Umahi among others. Notable Tinubu allies from the Lagos class of 1999, when he was Governor, also made the list.
