The owner of the collapsed 21-storey building in Lagos State, Femi Osibona has been found dead in the rubble of the building.
Osibona’s company, Fourscore Homes Limited is responsible for the construction of the 21-storey building that collapsed in Ikoyi on Monday, November 1, 2021.
Rescue workers confirmed his corpse was recovered from the rubble on Thursday’s evening.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu also confirmed the discovery of the corpse of Osibona to BBC Pidgin on Thursday evening.
There have been concerns over the whereabouts of Osibona, Wale Bob-Oseni, his friend, and others trapped in the building.
Bob-Oseni, who was to catch a flight to the US, briefly made a detour to see the project at the invitation of the developer but did not walk out alive.
While nine people were rescued, over 30 have been confirmed dead.
The corpse of Osibona’s personal assistant was recovered two days ago.
The collapsed building was initially approved as a 15-storey facility but the developer went on to add more storeys.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared three days of mourning in the state over the tragic incident and also directed that all flags should fly at half-mast in public and private buildings.
The Lagos State government had since set up a panel of inquiry to unravel the cause of the incident while adding that those responsible for the structural defect would be prosecuted.
