Former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori and other Governors elected in 1999 on Wednesday visited President Bola Tinubu.
The President played host to his colleagues’ christened “Class of ‘99” at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Ibori in a tweet on Thursday about the visit in his official Twitter handle @JamesIbori6 wrote, “I was a guest at Mr President’s residence this evening. May God protect him as he gives his all to Nigeria”.
Members of the class who visited President Tinubu are Olusegun Osoba of Ogun, Bisi Akande of Osun, Lucky Igbinedion of Edo, Saminu Turaki of Jigawa, James Ibori of Delta, Donald Duke of Cross Rivers, Niyi Adebayo of Ekiti, Orji Kalu of Abia, Obong Attah of Akwa Ibom, Sam Egwu of Ebonyi State, Chimaroke Nnamani (Enugu), Ibrahim Turaki (Jigawa), Adamu Muazu (Bauchi), Ahmad Yerima (Zamfara), Jolly Nyame (Taraba), Attahiru Bafarawa (Sokoto) and Joshua Dariye (Plateau).
The deceased former Governors are Lam Adesina (Oyo), Umaru Yar Adua (Katsina), Audu Abubakar (Kogi), Mala Kachalla (Borno), Adebayo Adefarati (Ondo), Mohammed Lawal (Kwara), Diepreye Alamieyeseigha (Bayelsa), Abdulkadir Kure (Niger) and Chinwoke Mbadinuju of Anambra State.
He went on to spearhead the formation of coalition forces that led to the formation of the APC.
From 1999-2003, they held sway in their respective States.
Some of them were re-elected for a second term, which was terminated in 2007.
Some are still calling the shots in their states by influencing those who get elective and political positions.
