Former Head of Nigerian Interim National Government (INC), Chief Ernest Shonekan, has died at the age of 85.
NewsNet Nigeria learnt that Shonekan, who succeeded the military junta of General Ibrahim Babangida passed on Tuesday morning at Evercare hospital in Lekki area of Lagos state.
Born in Abeokuta, the state capital of Ogun State on May 9, 1936, Shonekan, a lawyer and statesman, was Nigeria’s Interim National Government August 26 to November 17, 1993, when it was cut short by a military coup spearheaded by the late General Sani Abacha.
Abacha was then the Secretary of Defence.
