VIDEO: Boxing Day fire outbreak in Agbarho in Delta curtailed by firefighters

Men of the Delta State Fire Service, Ughelli Command on Boxing Day battled to prevent a fire outbreak from wreaking havoc in Agbarho community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

NewsNet Nigeria gathered that the firefighters and youths of the community were heroes because without them the fire incident which occurred around 3pm on Boxing Day could have caused monumental losses to lives and property.

No casualty was recorded as men of the fire service were fully on the ground for hours battling to put out the fire which could have led to an inferno.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire allegedly started from a shop that is adjacent to a petrol station where oil and diesel are processed and sold.

One of the firefighters said on getting a distress call from a good Nigerian they mobilised to manage the situation although could not give an assessment of the fire and the cause of it.

The security outfit in the area including, Joseph Asigheghe, Zona Leader of Zone 10 Agbarho security while commending the effort of the fire service and youths in the area in curtailing the fire decried sitting of petroleum products shops in residential areas.

Other eyewitnesses revealed that a similar event had taken place some time ago this year and called on relevant authorities to address the issue.
