A fire outbreak on Friday morning caused by spilled diesel from a tanker which fell near the Agbarho Bridge on the East-West road in Delta State left artisans and other business owners counting their losses.
Men of the NPDC Shoreline Natural Resources Fire Service, Delta State Fire Service, Federal Road Safety (FRSC) to control traffic and other security agents were on ground to arrest the situation.
The impact of the 45000 capacity tanker suspected to be carrying diesel could be felt as motorists plying the East-West road on the Agbarho axis were forced to use only one lane.
According to an eyewitness account, the tanker was being towed by a Dangote truck before it fell a few metres from the bridge causing a fire outbreak which destroyed property on its path.
A palm wine seller and lotto operator, Mrs Queen Omo-Ovie and Miss Sharttel were among the victims of the fire.
The driver’s identity of the tanker still remains unknown as of the time of filing this report.
