The elders, leaders and stakeholders of Unenurhie community in Evwreni Kingdom, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, have appealed to the natives to maintain peace pending the determination of the inconclusive election matters in court.
This was part of the resolutions reached by the community elders, leaders and stakeholders on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at a meeting convened by a foremost leader, elder and president of Unenurhie Community Development Union, Lagos branch, Mr. Felix Ekah.
Discussions at the meeting were centred on taking a stand on the happenings in Unenurhie community, especially the inconclusive election that was conducted in variance to the community constitution.
It was resolved that a stop should be put to the misconduct of Mr. Peter Maison, the outgone president of Unenurhie community, by taking necessary legal steps.
The meeting condemned the outcome of Unenurhie election, which may lead to a crisis following non-adherence to the constitution of Unenurhie Community Development Union (UCDU).
The meeting also resolved not to allow Mr. Peter Maison to destroy the community, as his tenure as president of the community has elapsed since March 31, 2025.
The house consequently resolved to notify all companies operating in Unenurhie community to stop with immediate effect any form of dealings with Mr. Peter Maison and Mr. Williams Illaya or anyone who claims to be representing the community pending the decision of the court.
The petitioner, Mr. Kingdom Okpovwaire, was commended for seeking redress in court rather than resorting to self-help, which would have led to the crisis and for being open to discussion and out-of-court settlement if the other party is willing to come to a compromise.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Felix Eka, Mr. Benjamin Iloloje, Mr. Johnson Abrucha, Mr. Fidelis Adjogbe, Mr. Newyear Umukoro, Chief Emmanuel Ume, Prophet Raphael Ogodo, Elder Clever Adjene and Comrade Friday Diamond.
