A tanker loaded with petroleum product has fallen across the Udu bridge in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State causing a major traffic challenge for motorists on that route.
It was not clear what caused the incident but some people say the truck driver may have lost control due to brake failure.
The bridge presently traverses Udu and Uvwie Local Government Areas, but people say it needs urgent attention to ease transportation across the two Local Government Areas.
It was gathered that the truck was heading from Enerhen in Uvwie Local Government to Udu Local Government Area when the incident occurred.
The situation has made security agents stationed at the scene of the incident to stop all vehicular vehicles, from going through the bridge to prevent an explosion.
Men of the Delta State fire service have been stationed at the scene to forestall any possible fire outbreak.
Passengers travelling to and from Udu are presently stranded as they are not allowed to cross.
At the time of this report, the tanker was still on the Udu bridge.
Residents have now resorted to using an alternate route in Udu Local Government Area through the NPA/DSC Express Way.
