As part of measures to restore peace and development in Orhuwhorun, a suburban area in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, stakeholders in the community, Thursday morning, gathered for this year’s annual prayer to interced for peace and progress of the land.
NewsNet Nigeria correspondent reports that the traditional ruler of Orhuwhorun community, the Iyasere of the community, the President General of the community, clergymen, elders, women and youths were all on ground to seek the face of God for the peace and progress of the community in the year 2022 and beyond.
The traditional ruler of Orhuwhorun community, Ighowho Takerere, said it is a norm for the people to come together at the start of each year to commit the land and the people to God.
Takerere noted that the community stakeholders know the benefits of putting God first, hence the need to ask God to take charge of everything in the land.
The traditional ruler also commended security agencies and others who played vital roles in ensuring peace return to Orhuwhorun.
For their part, the Iyasere of the community Olorugun Aghogho Freeman Afatakpa, the President General, Olorugun Joseph Tefue and others emphasized the importance of peace to the overall development of the community, hence the prayer.
They also called on formentors of unrest and cult clashes in the community to refrain from such ugly acts or be ready to face the wrath of the law.
Other persons who spoke to NewsNet Nigeria called on youths of the community to always engage in the things that will add value to their lives and the community rather than indulging in vices that will jeopardize their future.
With the successful hosting of the annual prayer for peace and progress, indigenes and residents of Orhuwhorun are hopeful that the year 2022 will be peaceful and filled with growth and development, unlike the latter stages of 2021 that was plagued with cult clashes, killings, looting and unrest.

The Traditional Ruler of Orhuwhorun Community, His Royal Highness Ighowho Takerere said that as a people they have come together to commit the land and the people to God.
Ighowho Takerere added that there is great benefits putting God in charge, hence him and his people decided to come together to ask God to take charge of everything in the land.
He thanked the Delta State Governor Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, the security agencies and all who played one role or the other in ensuring that peace return to Orhuwhorun Community.
Speaking in a a similar vein, the Iyasere of the community Olorugun Aghogho Freeman Afatakpa and the President General of the community Olorugun Joseph Tefue emphasized that the importance of peace to the overall growth of the community cannot be overemphasized hence the prayer.
Olorugun Afatakpa and Olorugun Tefue equally called on those causing unrest in the land refrain from such or will be made to face the wrath of the law when caught.
They however appealed to investors to take advantage of the prevailing peace in the land to do business.
Some other indigenes of Orhuwhorun Community who spoke to newsmen all called on youths of the community to always engage on productive ventures that will add value to their lives and grow the land instead of indulging in vices that will jeopardize their bright futures.
With the Orhuwhorun Community prayers for peace and progress of the land, it is hopeful that the year 2022 for Orhuwhorun Community which has been plagued with cult activities in the past years will usher in the needed growth and development for both the land and its people going forward.
