A trailer on Monday evening lost control at the ever-busy Jakpa junction in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, killing a middle-aged woman standing by the walkway.
NewsNet gathered that the trailer was coming from the Airport road junction axis on the Effurun/Sapele road when it suddenly rammed into two commercial tricycles before knocking down the woman; who died on the spot.
The accident drew a large crowd but the swift arrival of the Chairman of Uvwie Local Government, Honourable Ramson Onoyake, averted the burning of the trailer and the driver from being lynched.
In a phone chat, Onoyake told NewsNet that he swiftly mobilised to the accident scene to prevent a mob action, control the traffic gridlock occasioned by the accident and ensure speedy identification of the deceased, who was said to be a trader.
He disclosed that the family of the deceased eventually arrived on the scene and thereafter, took the corpse to the Central Hospital, Warri morgue.
