Governor of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has reconstituted the 6-man Judicial Panel of Enquiry into the lingering crisis in Evwreni community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
The reconstitution of the panel from the statement released on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Patrick Ukah, only affected the position of chairman, which now has Justice Michael Nduka Obi.
Justice Obi replaces Justice S. O. N. Oghene (Rtd), who was named last week by the government as the chairman of the panel.
Members of the panel remain a representative of the Commissioner of Police, representative of the State Director State Security Service, Mr N. P. Isibor and Mr J. I. Ebinum, Esq.
While the functioning Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Political and Security Services, Mr T. C. Aguonye, will serve as Secretary of the panel.
According to the statement, the panel which will be inaugurated in due course will have six weeks from the date of inauguration to conduct its assignment.
The panel has the following terms of reference: to establish the remote and immediate causes of the crisis; to ascertain the roles played by various individuals, groups and their sponsors in the crisis and apportion blames where necessary; and to look into and resolve any other issues as a means for bringing lasting peace to the community.
