The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, has called on the governors of Edo and Delta states to assist veteran sports journalist, Anthony Obaseki, who has been sick.
Ikeogwu, made the plea when he led a delegation of members of the NUJ to Okwagbe town, where Obaseki is receiving treatment at Okwagbe community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to Ikeogwu; “We are calling on the governor’s of Delta and Edo states to come to the aide of Anthony Obaseki who had been ill for some times now.
“We want to assure you, Obaseki, that journalists in Delta are solidly behind you.
“From what we have discussed so far, Obaseki has told us that he has not offset his bills. But I want to assure you that by God’s grace help will come your way and in no distance time you will offset the bill.
“I know that right now you are thinking of how to pay your children’s school fees and your house rent. But we want to assure you that God will see you through.”
Anthony Obaseki, on his part, thanked the Nigeria Union of Journalists and all those who show concern for him adding that their that outpouring of love has overwhelmed him.
He appealed to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, come to his aid.
“I want to say a big thank you to the Nigeria Union of Journalists and all those who have shown concern about my health. I did not know that there are people who still love me this much. Thank you very much.
