Ned Nwoko offers assistance to victims’ families of Agbor tanker explosion

A week after a deadly tanker fire claimed lives and damaged properties at Agbor, Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has offered to help families of the victims with material support.

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, a tanker conveying petrol on the Old/Lagos Road Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area lost control and burst into flames.

About 6 people died in the inferno while property worth millions of Naira were burnt.

Moved by the tragedy, Senator Nwoko sent a delegation to meet with families of the casualties, days after issuing a public statement of condolence.

Speaking on behalf of the Federal lawmaker, the Head, Senator Ned Nwoko senatorial Office Asaba, High Chief Ugo Asibelua expressed sadness over the incident.

He said Senator Nwoko was “deeply touched about the tragic deaths and loss of properties”

In his remarks, the Senior Legislative Aide and Chief of staff in the office of Senator Ned Nwoko, Dr Michael Nwoko said “The visit was to sympathize with the families and take record of losses” for necessary succour by the Senator

He said “Senator Ned Nwoko would provide appropriate financial assistance in his characteristic spirit of charity”

He urged the families of the victims and those who lost their properties to be calm as the Senator was committed to their welfare in this time of distress.

Among places visited by the team were the scene of the Agbor tanker accident and homes of the victims – Deaconess Adomgbor Deborah, who was caught in the fire while returning from Church; Donatus Udoka, a generator mechanic and Rashidat, a bureau de change operator, who hailed from Kebbi state.

The Ika South and Ika North East local government coordinators, Ned Nwoko senatorial office, Mr Stanley Ehiedu and Mr Alfred Idehen thanked the senator for “his untiring efforts in uplifting the material well-being of the people of Delta North and Nigerians in general”
