As the adverse effect of oil bunkering continues to take its toll on the economy, the environmental hazards of the nefarious activities of oil thieves have also continued to cause damage to lives and property.
One of such bunkering activities led to the spill of Automotive Gas Oil, AGO, known as Diesel on the Edjeba axis of the ever-busy NPA Expressway causing multiple vehicular accidents on Friday afternoon.
Victims of the accidents who called on law enforcement agents to redouble their efforts in checking the menace of oil bunkers decried the situation.
According to them, the driver of the unidentified vehicle carrying the adulterated Automotive Gas Oil should be traced with a view in order to prevent a re-occurrence of the near-fatal incidents that have damaged their cars.
The incident created a traffic jam on the NPA Expressway for several hours thereby causing panic among road users.
Although no casualty was recorded they called on relevant agencies of government to ensure that only authorized trucks are allowed to transport other petroleum products.
