The defamation case pressed by Efe Don Kigho against Oasis Magazine may soon become a thing of the past, following passionate efforts by a Justice of the Peace, JP, and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief (Barr.) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, to settle the two young Urhobo sons, Efe Don Kigho and the Publisher of the media outfit, Daniel Umukoro, who are making waves in their chosen fields.

According to information gathered, Latimore, on Monday evening made a call to Kigho, and explained the need for the case to be settled out of court.

The case which comes up for hearing on Tuesday at the Federal High Court, Erho, was instituted by the counsel of Kigho over two years ago.

Comrade Kigho alleged that he was defamed by a publication on Oasis Magazine’s online platform after the media house published a report from an interview granted Comrade Efemena Umukoro, where he made several wild allegations.

A source privy to the development, said: “Barrister Fred Latimore, a Justice of the Peace, JP, called Efe Kigho and had elaborate discussions with him in respect of the legal issues and made Kigho agree to a retraction of the story, to be published by Oasis Magazine as final resolution of the conflict.”

Meanwhile, Latimore during a call to the publisher, warned that it won’t be good news to find out that two brothers are fighting over such matters.

In his words, “legal battles breeds prolonged hatred and not healthy for young people with foreseeable colourful destiny. I do not subscribe to this impending division between two bright Urhobo sons and we must do the needful to stop it now.

“I am not in Delta State at the moment,  otherwise I would have invited both parties for peace talk and resolution, but thank God for technology which makes it possible to resolve issues via phone calls and electronic messages.

“I spoke extensively with Don Efe Kigho, and he agreed to end the legal battle on ground that the said story or interview must be retracted and apology tendered by Oasis Magazine. He’s such a humble young man and I deeply appreciate him.

“It is my strong desire that Urhobo sons and daughters in various field of endeavours stays as one, going forward.

“Go to court tomorrow, but do the needful by doing a retraction to pacify the aggrieved, Comrade Don Efe Kigho. I appreciate Kigho for the respect he accorded me and we shall celebrate your reunion soonest,” Oghenesivbe assured.
