Olorogun John Oguma has dissociated himself from the purported election for the Akpile Chieftaincy title in Olomu Kingdom in Delta State.
Oguma’s reaction was sequel to online reports claiming erstwhile Commissioner in the state, Olorogun Dr Ebenezer Okorodudu defeated him in the said election.
In a statement made available to journalists in Asaba on Saturday, Olorogun Oguma, who is the Chairman of Obakpor Engineering Construction Limited and the Udu of Olomu Kingdom, said he was never invited nor participated in the sham election.
According to him, “My attention has been drawn to the purported election for the office of Akpile of the ancient Olomu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
“Ordinarily I wouldn’t have reacted to the said sham election if the publishers of the news report did not claim that I lost to Dr Ebenezer Okorodudu.
“To set the records straight, I was never part of the election because I wasn’t invited and my Ovwor community boycotted the said election after passing a vote of no confidence on the election committee headed by Olorogun Napoleon Ogbarode and Chief J. U Okpoyibo, the self-acclaimed Chairman of the ruling house and his executive.
“At the moment I am in London and was never party to the deceit called election into “Akpile” title.
“I, therefore, use this medium to call on all those who earlier published that I participated and lost to Dr Okorodudu without recourse to me to retract the said publication and do the proper thing or be prepared to meet me in court,” he stated.
