A hotel building still currently under construction directly opposite Delta Mall Asaba (Shoprite) has collapsed, reports NIGER DELTA TODAY Online.
The building, proposed to be 20-storey, collapsed on Thursday evening causing panic among workers and residents of the state capital.
The multiple billion naira hotel building is said to be owned by billionaire businessman and founder of Rain Oil Group, Chief Gabriel Ogbechie.
It was not clear the cause of the collapse but the scene of the incident has been cordoned off by officials of State Emergency Management and security operatives.
Details of the incident were still sketchy at the time of filing this report.
This is coming barely hours after the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) flagged off a two-day event in Asaba, the state capital.
