A fatal motor accident Wednesday afternoon on the Osubi/Abraka Highway in Delta State claimed the lives of five persons.
A dependable source told NewsNet Nigeria that five travellers died in the accident involving a Toyota Lexus Jeep and a commercial vehicle on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.
The commercial vehicle was said to be heading to Abraka when the Lexus jeep rammed into it killing five occupants on the spot.
It was gathered that five other occupants of the vehicles who sustained various degrees of injuries were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital at Ovuorie near Orerokpe while one passenger escaped unhurt.
Although the identities of the victims are yet to be made public at the time of this report, sources said men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) promptly evacuated the wreckage of the vehicles from the road to ensure a free flow of vehicular movements.
Wednesday’s incident came less than two weeks after a similar accident involving two commercial vehicles led to the death of five market women on the same route.
Motorists and sympathisers however blamed the accident on the deplorable condition of the Federal Highway.
