Ekpan community in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State now has a new Anti-Cult Unit to assist in curbing criminality in the area.
Delta State President, Anti-Cult Squad, Mr Uche Nwande, inaugurated the new Anti-Cult Unit which followed the dissolution of the former squad accused of meddling in community matters.
Inaugurating the new Anti-Cult Unit in Ekpan, the State President of the Anti-Cult Squad, Mr Uche Nwande asked the Unit not to meddle in community affairs.
He charged the Ekpan Anti-Cult Unit headed by Mr Gift Mudi to conform its activities with the rules and regulations of the State Anti-Cult Squad.
Mr Nwande explained that the duty of the Anti-Cult is to check cult-related activities.
Shortly after the inauguration, the President of the State Anti-Cult Squad led the new Unit members on a courtesy call to Uvwie Council Chairman, Honourable Ramson Onoyake.
The Council Chairman represented by Secretary to Uvwie Local Government, Elder Margaret Obiku urged the new Anti-Cult Unit in Ekpan to do their work professionally.
In their responses, the State President of the Anti-Cult Squad, Mr Uche Nwande and the Chairman of Ekpan Unit, Mr Gift Mudi promised to be law-abiding while performing their duties.
President of Ekpan Youths, Comrade Victory Edirin Nanakporo also made a similar pledge for peace in the community.
They however appealed to the Uvwie Council Chairman to unban the activities of the new Anti-Cult Unit in Ekpan for optimal performance.
