Disregard letter introducing new Ekpan Development Committee to avoid contempt of court – Onaodovwan-led EDC warns

Ekpan Development Committee (EDC) in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State headed by Comrade Newton Onaodovwan has asked members of the public, companies and other stakeholders in Ekpan to disregard any letter introducing a new EDC stressing that by virtue of the EDC constitution and a subsisting court judgement, they are still in charge as they have not been dissolved.

In a statement, the Chairman and Secretary of Ekpan Development Committee, EDC, Comrades Newton Onaodovwan and Deacon Matthew Emewakeme, cited a judgement by the justice of Ekpan High Court where the court ordered that the Onaodovwan-led EDC Caretaker Committee remain in power and has not been dissolved by any competent court.

Consequently, Comrade Onaodovwan in the statement argued that there has not been any election of the EDC but brazen acts of illegality, rascality, recklessness and display of open-eye and abuse of power by the Uvwie Local Government Chairman, Hon. Ramson Onoyake which saw him foisting his stooge one Victory Nanakpero without recourse to the electoral process as proscribed by article IV of the Constitution of the Ekpan Development Committee 2012 as amended.

While stating that the act by Hon Ramson Onoyake was a clear contempt of the order of the Honorable Court Comrade Onaodovwan revealed that a copy of the suit had been served to the Uvwie Council boss and the other people involved and advised the public to distance themselves from any dealing with Victory Nanakpero and his cohorts to avoid been a partaker of their contemptuous acts of iniquity.

It would be recalled that former Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan in 2008 directed the Ekpan community to come up with a constitution that would guide the activities of the Ekpan Development Committee EDC which the then Uvwie Local Government Chairman Hon Peter Abugewa supervised and drafted and was read to the community at different meetings for inputs, amendment and adoption before it was finally signed into law by accredited representatives of Ekpan community thus making the constitution sacrosanct to the people of Ekpan Community.

The constitution was reviewed in 2012 and has become the statutory instrument of the Ekpan community as it states how officers of the Ekpan Development Committee EDC would emerge but sadly was violated by the present Uvwie Council Chairman Ramson Onoyake who ought to protect the constitution.
